A few months ago we reviewed several models of the iRobot Roomba vacuum. We even went as far as to put it head to head with our Dyson DC7. Well, iRobot has done it again with their new iRobot Roomba 500 model. This new model has several enhancements over previous models and a few bells and whistles.

The new Roomba 500 has improved cleaning performance and an enhanced suction for deeper cleaning. This little robot now picks up more dirt, requires less cleaning and is much easier to maintain. Additionally, there is a 34% larger filtration system, and a larger dust bin, something that was lacking in previous models.

The new navigation system still has virtual wall technology, but is improved. Also updated are the bumpers thaty now are softtouch providing reduced impact on furniture and other obstacles. The Roomba 500 also has new anti-tangle technology to keep it from being tangled on cords, rug fringe and tassels.

The Roomba 500 now even sounds like a robot, New Voice Demonstration provides an audio walk-thru on setup and demonstration. It also alerts you when it’s time for maintenance.
